“Unprofessionalism”

This has to be a short note (yeah, right, everyone that knows me is saying, rolling their eyes – don’t you dare, Kim!) today since I have many things to do before ‘the end’ (at work – not with whatever else you were thinking – lol). Anyway, I received a couple of emails (today, in Jan and in Feb) from a Brazilian colleague saying they were going to cancel my request for a new windows server installation (for my team) since they can’t find anybody qualified to do it – something to do with networking and “blades” (must be a hardware term – just kidding). So, I write back (since I’ve been asking for this since last Sept), USING MY FAMOUS ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, and bold, and underscoring, and flashing red highlighting (Thanks, Ken K. for adding that last one in), telling the guy to GET OFF HIS BUTT and GET IT DONE – ok, it really wasn’t that bad…and this guy forwards it to one of the directors here (whom I don’t even report to – in the remotest way – oh, yeah, he’s the ‘onsite’ manager of my office), by the name of Jeff (you know which Jeff). AND, Jeff calls me on the phone, and indicates “You were HIGHLY unprofessional” with that email, and “I’m VERY disappointed in you” (notice how he can use UPPER CASE while talking with me on the phones?). And, I’m rolling on the floor, laughing, since he definitely KNOWS I’m being laid off soon – WHY THE HECK would he even bother? He could have told the guy: ok, I’ll handle it, and let it slide…OR, he could have sent a note to my boss and asked him to handle it. By the way, I like Jeff, he’s an ok guy, known him for years. I know others have issues with him, but I do not (except for now – lol). Anyway, I got a laugh out of it and I hope you will too – the ones that know Jeff.

Hope everyone is having a great day. If you know Jeff, maybe one of you could forward this to him, sometime after I’m out of there. Actually, don’t, it may ruin my chances to be hired back as a contractor when they figure out that this system can’t run by itself.

Oh, by the way, yes, I did write back to my brazilian collegue, and apologized for my “tone”, my “all caps”, and my “highlighting”.

See ya.
