Lailah – My Cup Runneth Over

My cup runneth over this week:

Had a great sleep-over with Lailah on Thursday night, she then babysat me all day long on Friday (until her dada came by at 5 PMish to take her home), and I also got a chance to be with her tonight at the Saint Paul Ice Carnival.

While walking from the parking ramp, we pass the Landmark Center Building, and while looking upward and pointing at it (the tall building), she says: “GranPa Brian, I wanna go see that castle” (…it does look like a castle). Unfortunately, it was closed, which threw her into a tizzy. She was, at first, more interested in that building than the actual ice sculptures…until we found one where we could walk up to it, and touch it with her hands (yes, with mittens on). Then, she decides to press her face to it, and liking how that felt, of course she had to then lick the darn thing (more than once!), and, yes, we had forgotten to put a mitten on her tongue.

She initially had a hard time waiting in line to see the Ice Castle, but finally settled down (apologies to those people in line next to us, for bursting your eardrums with her loud screaming – she was in a mood for a short bit of time).

Lailah has her own room at GranMa Rose’s place, and when I got there tonight for us to take her to the Carnival, she takes my hand, and takes me to her room, with GranMa Rose (GMR) following us, trying to get a word in edge-wise (since Lailah is sharing her day with me). GMR is trying to clue me in on the plan for the evening. Lailah, fed up with GranMa Rose talking to me then pushes GranMa Rose out the door, saying something to the effect of: “Go way, he’s my GranPa Brian, not yours”, and proceeds to close the door on GranMa Rose while GranMa Rose is talking to me. We both started laughing so hard, OMG. I wish we had gotten that on tape.

THEN, GET THIS:

Afterwards (after seeing the Ordway lights, Ice Sculptures, etc.), we’re driving back to GranMa Rose’s place so I can head for home (after dropping them off), and GMR is driving and I’m in the back seat next to Lailah in her car seat holding her hand, and Lailah (I really need to start writing this stuff down as it happens), says something like: “GranMa Rose? I don’t like GranPa Brian [anymore]. Can we get rid of him?” Talk about busting a gut. OMG2!!

I wish I could wear a go-pro on my head and tape her all day long. Wishing all of you to have days like the ones I’m having.
