Finding lost treasure

Many, many moons ago, I was once married: Gail and I were together for 11 years, but we separated/divorced in 2000.

Fast forward to 2006, and I sold the house Rose and I had lived in when we were together (the first time), and moved into a smaller townhouse, in “Beautiful Downtown Apple Valley”.

During that move, I lost the ring that Gail had given me as a wedding present (AKA, my wedding ring). I’d distinctly remember it being on my (home office) desk or in my desk drawer, and me sweeping everything from that desk into a moving box as I was preparing to move into this townhouse. I moved lots and lots of boxes during that week, with some of those boxes still in my garage, “unopened”, even after twelve years. Over the years, I’ve gone through some of them, looking for that ring, without any success.

I’ve been trying to declutter my garage these past 3-4 weeks, and today I came across a moving box from that move twelve yrs ago that held some coffee mugs, and lots of other junk. I don’t drink coffee, but over time, a few of my colleagues at work had given me a few coffee mugs as b-day presents, and I recognized these as the ones I once had on my desk at my previous home.

There were pens, and floppy disks, and as I mentioned, lots of other stuff (tweezers, a money clip, a pair of my old glasses, etc.), and it just felt like this could be the box that held the missing ring.

I started taking the items out and there it was, along with a second ring, which looked vaguely familiar, but couldn’t dredge up any memories of it.

Yep, I’m a sentimental guy at heart.

[the one with the three diamonds was the wedding ring.]
