Leisurely Sunday – Biking down the River Kwai

Embellishments follow.

Lots of embellishments.

Got invited to go on a bike ride today.

Knowing I’d not been on my bike since 3-4 yrs ago, they said, “It’ll be fun – don’t worry, it’ll be an easy ride – just round the neighborhood, one time around”

Ok, I said.

For whatever reason, they convinced me to put on a blindfold as I got into their car, with my bike.

The car stopped, and I was allowed to take off the blindfold.

We were at Lake Nokimis.

Oh, a very nice neighborhood – just not MY neighborhood.

Got on my bike.

Rode along a very scenic bike route next to Minnihaha creek.

Had a really fun time, riding to Lyndale Ave (starting roughly at Cedar ave.)

Saw a really nice “futuristic” home sitting next to the more typical hundred yr old homes in that neighborhood.

Saw the Minnehaha creek. It’s a really nice creek.

There were a few people kayaking on the creek.

My friend mentions “we should really go kayaking some day”

[they know I don’t know how to swim]

Lots of time goes by, as we ride on this tree lined path – lots and lots of beautiful trees, protecting us from the Sun’s evil rays.

Having a very enjoyable ride.

You know how it is when you go tubing on a river, or white water rafting? Where you start at one end, and you wind up at the other end, having your fun, and there’s always someone at the other end to drive you back to where you started?

Well, this wasn’t one of those times.

After exhausting myself by biking that eighty three mile trail (I lie, it was only three miles), I was expected to bike back to the car.

I said: What the heck??

Actually the word was quite stronger than that, but this is a PG post audience.

We biked it back to the car, with me taking a break every hundred yards or so.

It seemed it was snowing,

and, I had to bike uphill – both ways.

But we made it back to the car, without having a coronary.

Total biking time: about an hour.

We had biked three hundred twenty one and one half miles in under an hour – a personal best for the Big Guy.

[actually a total of ~six miles]

Loaded the bikes up, and this time I was allowed to view our destination trip – sans the blindfold. I guess going back to Beautiful Downtown Apple Valley really wouldn’t be a surprise to me, on the car ride home.

Got home, threw myself onto my bed, and promptly passed out.

For three hours.

Embellishments, embellishments, embellishments:

I’m typing this up in my CCU (coronary care unit) hospital bed, by the way.

Talk soon – my heart ❤️ doctor wants me to rest.

And, how was your beautiful Sunday??
