Watching last episode of “The First”, staring Sean Penn. Its more drama revolving around the lives of the astronauts (before leaving the Earth to travel to Mars) than Sci-Fi, at least this first season is. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next season.
For a long time, I didn’t like Mr. Penn, but with Mystic River, “I am Sam” (especially this one), and Milk, he’s grown on me. And I now think he’s a very fine actor. There’s a scene in one of the last couple of episodes and he’s having a tremendous argument with his daughter, and you can see he’s (the character) is in pure anguish. Not a whole lot of actors can pull off showing emotions like he does.
Not sure if this show is a keeper or not, too soon to tell, but it’s interesting, so we’ll see.
It’s creator is Beau Willimon (the guy who did House Of Cards).
