Blogging – sometimes can be too much of a good thing

Going to stay off the Blog for awhile today - I've posted enough stories and "fodder" last night and this morning to last "my followers" (LOL - no, I don't think of my readers in that way, I was JUST KIDDING) from now until the cows come home. Soon to come: A posting about my OCD "hoarding" (and my book buying/book collecting, and my just "collecting in general" OCD quirk/trait). Maybe. Enjoy … [Read more...]

Unrelated post #2 – talking to a stranger

Got out early again from class tonight, had had the girl all day and didn't really get a chance to eat while she was babysitting me. So, upon the way home, I made a split second decision to get off at the pilot knob exit (almost missing the exit, but made it by going on two wheels - JK), which just so happens to have a Chillies on the corner nearby. Ordered something new called Margarita tex-mex … [Read more...]

Gay marriage – my thoughts

A former HS female friend today posted a comment along the lines of "Why is America encouraging sodomy?" [If I remember correctly, I believe her husband is a church pastor and they are currently doing missionary work overseas.] A different FB female friend - a former work colleague and someone apparently religious enough that they would openly read their bible at work when they weren't busy - a … [Read more...]

“Black and White” song – interesting history

Spotify ‪#‎NowPlaying "Black And White" by Three Dog Night. First heard this song in 1972 (at age 13) becoming one of my favs around the time I was just beginning to become aware of, and appreciate "popular" music (on the radio), etc. I didn't know until a few mins ago, it wasn't written by Three Dog Night, in '72, but was written in 1954 by David Arkin and Earl Robinson, in response to the … [Read more...]

Chocolate, my downfall

Last one: Who in their right mind buys a bag of Ghirardelli Raspberry Chocolate and eats it all in one sitting?? Can't blame it on the dog (since I don't have a dog). Ok, enough stories. Geez. … [Read more...]

Internet down today: Model Railroading

Two more blog posts to do. Second to last - as previously noted, my internet was down from late Thursday thru Saturday afternoon. The technician comes around my place at 3:30, worked on the outside box for quite some time. Finally comes to the door, introduces himself as a Charter employee, and we talk about my problem. He starts looking at the cabling, etc. In the meantime, he inquires "is that … [Read more...]

Spending time with Lailah today

Third unrelated post tonight. To tell you this story, I need to confess something. I do not like to allow Lailah to watch TV while she is with me (there is plenty of other stuff for us to do together, etc.) and I try really hard to adhere to that, along with keeping her iPad time to a minimum. After having said this, there are sometimes when I just need a rest, and I acquiesce to letting her … [Read more...]

Today’s Supreme court decision in Haiku

The Supreme Court's decision in Haiku (author Daniela Lapidous)   Roberts’ dissent: I support you all No, really, I do, but this Isn’t our problem.   Alito’s dissent: “Happiness is not the point of marriage, fools. It’s BABIES,” he whispered.   Thomas’ dissent: “Liberty” – this word, I do not think Locke means what You think it means. Sigh.   Scalia’s dissent: You’re not a … [Read more...]

Miscellaneous unrelated posts – #1

Ok, a bunch of small short unrelated posts tonight. First, did I mention I had lunch with BFF Rick last week? He lives downtown MPLS, and we usually do something in the SLP or Ridgedale area. We ended up eating at Big Bowl at Ridgedale - hadn't been there in quite some time - had me some Panang Chicken Curry with white rice. BEST. MEAL. EVER. I know there is another Big Bowl in Southdale, but … [Read more...]

Supreme Count decision – Gay Marriage

The following are not my words (and I lost the original link). Justice Anthony Kennedy who authored today’s ruling legalizing same-sex marriage throughout the United States closed his opinion with one of the most beautiful passages in Supreme Court of the United States history. No union is more profound than marriage, for it embod- ies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, … [Read more...]

MPR article about having an e-device section at symphonies

Classical MPR article about e-devices (opens in a new window) Would this be nice to have - absolutely - if and only if, you were in a sealed off room by yourself. Otherwise, it will be a distraction to all other concert goers. Yes, I read the article, and saw that you could only use in a special seating section. However, I can just imagine, even having perhaps only one percent (30 people) that … [Read more...]

Internet issues, today’s rant

My internet connection seems to be totally off since late Thursday night - sucks big time - rebooted modem, router and PC a dozen times without success - crappy Charter ISP. I finally break down at 9pm by calling Charter, with the female robot voice walking me thru what I've been doing most of the day, finally "she" throws her hands up in the air and gives up, forwarding me to a live "agent", who … [Read more...]

Lailah and photography

I know some of you are waiting for a Lailah story - I've gotten many, many emails from her fans overnight, asking for an updated status since she was babysitting me yesterday. You guys are such an impatient bunch of people, so here it is: We're at the water park yesterday at lunchtime, in Beautiful Downtown Apple Valley, having some fun with each other. I've been leaving the "good" camera at home … [Read more...]

Picking up Lailah today!

Got the girl today, in a few mins, got the girl today, the one that gives me joy, and hope, and puts so much fun into my life. Got the girl today - I'm supposed to be finishing up some stuff before leaving to get her, but I just had to shout this out to my small world of friends. Lailah - you rock! [gotta go now, I'm late, late, late for a very important date!] … [Read more...]

GPB: "I love you too" Little Girl: "I love you, GranPaBrian" [not sure how the ComicCon got in there, but a couple of hours before, while painting in the kitchen, she noticed her Big Hero Six poster in the kitchen (which I got from ComicCon, but she … [Read more...]
