Memories of the Killer Geese

“No! No! No, that’s right, I said No!”

Later:

“Aieeeii, are they chasing me???!!!”

She was a hoot with these Geese.

Best. Day. Ever.

Elyse and Brian story #1

We’re at PowderHorn Park this afternoon, walking around the lake. We are two thirds of the way around, and we run into several mama ducks with their new baby ducks, occupying the walking path. Not only the path, but all of the grassy area from the shoreline to the edge of the sidewalk, as well as on the other side of the path up a hill. So, going forward, they had almost surrounded us, but still leaving the way we came, as an escape route.

But, Elyse and I really didn’t want to go back the way we came, we were so very close to where we had parked, and didn’t really want to walk around the lake a second time (yes, I know, I could use the exercise).

Anyway, every time we tried walking past the mama ducks, we would get hissed at. Actually, I was on the grassy area, and Elyse was still on the sidewalk. I thought I could use Elyse as a distraction to allow me to pass by these terrorist ducks. Elyse, on the other hand, wanted me to distract them, I said no way – age before beauty, duckee.

Well, I don’t remember how we got past them but we somehow did – we had survived the “day of the attacking ducks”.

Elyse took a video of all of this as it was going on, so I’ll try to post it once I get a copy of it. But beware, it’s not pretty – two fully grown adults versus a dozen or so ducks, with the end result being, us running for our lives…

Ok, this was funny as it was happening, but sounds really lame as I’m typing it up…
