Brunch with BFF Rick

Short (ha,ha, don't believe him!) update, not much going on in the big city of "Beautiful downtown Apple Valley" this past week. Brunch with BFF Rick at the Original Pancake house in Edina. I ordered the "Big Apple" pancake. And, a side of sausage links. The food arrives, and I'm served two side plates with three link sausages each. I'm not sure how to interpret this, AND, silly me, I don't … [Read more...]

Dinner and movie with Lailah

The little one took me to dinner tonight ("fast food"), and then, we went to see the new Disney movie "Finding Dory". Each time I see her, I am slowly starting to realize she is no longer 2 or 3, she is now 4: she sat in her own seat for the majority of the movie, only sitting on my lap for maybe 10 minutes. She didn't fidget at all. She is such a well behaved little girl. I think she liked the … [Read more...]

Franklin Graham

A quote from Mr. Franklin Graham: “Mr. President, you’re looking at the wrong place when it comes to the root cause of gun violence. Your executive actions will do nothing to change this horrific problem. You can take all the guns in America and put them in a pile on the Mall in Washington DC, and those guns will stay there and will eventually rust and decay. Not one gun will crawl out of that … [Read more...]

Breastfeeding in public – my thoughts

(Need to find the link for the video of a woman being shamed by an older man because she was breastfeeding in public) God, I must be really stupid. I just don't get what the big deal is about women breastfeeding in public. My thoughts: It's a natural thing. It's the feeding of a baby, for Pete's sake. It's definitely not a sexual thing, since a baby is involved. < So, I have … [Read more...]

Memories of last few days at Unisys

Can't believe it's been seven years. The day I wrote this, they (Mgmt) were saying I was going to be outsourced instead of laid off. A couple/few days later, I was laid off...after almost twenty nine yrs with Unisys (formerly Burroughs). ==== From June 15, 2009: "Inside sources say layoff date is this Thursday. TM and I negotiated "performance" SLA/KPIs for outsourcing contract today. He says … [Read more...]

A friends’s thoughts about being gay

A high school friend of mine (DB) wrote the following words as he shared the post from another gentleman (below). ===== "It was not that long ago that I was walking down the street alone and someone in the car yelled faggott. I turned around and got back in my car as I again no longer felt safe...I have been called that word more times than I can remember and every time I wonder if that word … [Read more...]

Ice cream

Cripe! It's almost midnight, and my stomach is hankering for a chocolate raspberry ice cream sandwich. I'd gotten a box ($5, or was it two boxes for $5?) of them a few weeks ago, and now I'm out of them. I wonder what time Cub Foods closes?? If I'm not back in thirty minutes, send out the RCMP*! (*look it up if you don't know the acronym) (i wonder if my dad was this weird at this age??) … [Read more...]

Another person’s essay on internet bullies

The following are not my words, but reflect how I feel: Original post There's a whole lot of hatred going on in the Facebook world right now. In my experience to date, Facebook rants, keyboard "warriors", and emotionally charged bantering back and forth has never nor will they ever solve a national problem. Furthermore, they will never change a person's point of view. It just won't happen. So … [Read more...]

Tolerance, racism, bullies, haters

I am quite proud to say, most, if not all of my FB friends are people with very kind hearts, and are not bullies, nor haters. I'm glad that most of you have open minds, and are tolerant and accepting of people different than yourself, due to their loving a person of the same sex, or due to them being transgender, or due to them loving a person of a different skin color, or due to them being … [Read more...]

A note to former colleague Robert Baker

So, I noticed you commented on a post from a "major" religious figure (you know, the person's initials are "FG"). But, due to the way FB sometimes works, I wasn't able to see the actual comment - maybe since there were a few hundred thousand other comments to that post (and why the FB algorithm fails...). Anyway, I just wanted to share with you that you were the cause of me losing an hour or so of … [Read more...]

Relaxing

My kind of weather today - currently 75, high of 79. Got all my windows open, listening the various birds chirping, some minor road traffic from the county road 1/2 mile away. And, then, there are my backyard neighbors, with their air conditioner running full tilt. Weird thing is, it looks as though their back door is open as well. Not sure whether I should go over and tell them (that their AC … [Read more...]

Mr. Trump and his Tweets following “Orlando”

Presidential Candidate Donald Trump and his Twitter tweets (please see the above photo), in chronological order, since Mr. Trump became aware of the mass killings in Orlando. I also looked at his official campaign website - no official statement from him (other than the tweets in the attached photo). As opposed to the following from Secretary Clinton: "I join the Americans in your prayers for … [Read more...]

An article from “The New Yorker”

An editorial from the "New Yorker" magazine's website, dated today: In the rhetoric of Donald Trump, mendacity and cynicism compete for equal time. It is hard to say which prevailed today as the Republican Party standard-bearer, a man who pretends to the most powerful political office in the land, tweeted this at his followers: “Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic … [Read more...]

Orlando tragedy

My thoughts, prayers and tears are with the people in Orlando. Why do so many people have such hatred in their hearts and heads? … [Read more...]

Bobby Fischer Movie

Watched a pretty good biographical movie tonight: "Pawn Sacrifice", staring Tobey Maguire as a young Bobby Fischer (chess champion in the '60s and '70s). Tobey does a great job at portraying Mr. Fischer. The movie starts with us seeing him as a 6 yr old chess prodigy, thru his teenage and young adult years, and finishes with the infamous 1972 Fischer/Boris Spassky championship match in Iceland, … [Read more...]

Mr. Trump and his comment regarding Elizabeth Warren

"Pocahontas". Ok, I'm pretty sure President Obama has someone on his staff doing his Twitter remarks for him. I'm guessing that both Senator Sanders and Secretary Clinton also have people to do that kinda stuff too. (yes, probably both candidates have input and/or are consulted at times, before a tweet is twittered - but, my guess is, 75-90% of their tweets are made by their staff's PR … [Read more...]

Chewbacca Mom and internet haters

Article on money "made" by the Chewbacca "Mom" First: Good for her! She made us laugh. She made lots (thousands, if not millions) of us laugh as we watched her laugh. Second: How can anyone feel a need to hate or criticize her for getting/making money off of her video? Doesn't make any sense to me. I truly dislike complainers/haters/trolls/bullies. Get a life. Rather than use the Internet to … [Read more...]

Dinner with Kelsey

Had a great dinner and conversation with BFF Kelsey Bruso, at MOA/Cadillac Grill tonight. Had an awesome Chicken Diablo Pasta, while Kelsey has some wonderful ribs. As always, it was great to see him. Always enjoy his company. … [Read more...]

Memories of the Killer Geese

"No! No! No, that's right, I said No!" Later: "Aieeeii, are they chasing me???!!!" She was a hoot with these Geese. Best. Day. Ever. (from a year ago - during Elyse's visit) ==== Elyse and Brian story #1 We're at PowderHorn Park this afternoon, walking around the lake. We are two thirds of the way around, and we run into several mama ducks with their new baby ducks, occupying the walking … [Read more...]

Dreams…

it's pretty hard for me to remember my dreams. But, I know I had one last night, and I should have gotten out of bed afterwards to type this up, because now, my memory of the dream isn't as vivid as it was immediately after my waking up. Setting the scene: The house got a bit hot in the latter part of the afternoon, but not so hot that I wanted to turn the air on. So, I turned on the fan I have … [Read more...]
