Build of Shipyard Brewery – 6 of 6

After not touching this project for the last week or so, as soon as I got home tonite, I sat down at the project table and started working on this effort again. Finished all the shingling of the front and rear main roofs, shingled the two dormers (front/rear) and glued them on. Added rolled tar paper for the roofs of the front/rear clerestory things, and glued the rear one on (I think I glued th…e front one on last time). Weathered the clerestory roofing. Not sure if I’m going to weather the main/dormer roofing “diamond cut” shingles – I think it’s needs “something”, but I don’t want to overdo it such that you can’t see the shape of the diamond shingles. Whatcha think?? Do I weather the shingles somewhat, just a tiny bit??

Still to do: gluing the window acetate to the inside of the windows (simulating glass). Adding the various exhaust vents; signage; the roof billboard; staining the various barn doors; adding the windows to the two exterior enclosed staircases (I only have one pair, can’t seem to locate the other pair); finishing the lower left front recessed barn door area, and then the upper right rear area – not sure what I’m going to do there – just might “board it up”, or put in the barn door – which doesn’t make sense. Also have to build and glue the two winch/pulley devices onto the two dormers. And, not to forget, the front right dock, and the left side, side dock need to be built. Oh yes, one or both of the cupolas need to be built too.

I’m liking how this project is turning out. I’m guessing this will take 3 more evenings of effort. Lost a couple of weeks due to the “bad back”situation – after sitting at the project table for a few hours, it wasn’t any fun, getting out of that chair. That pain is over now, thank goodness, but the sciatic nerve is still giving me some additional pain – but mostly only when I’m walking, hence, I’m now able to start working on these projects again.
